Get your plasmas out for the lads - Pt II
First of all, apologies if i'm dupicating the other thread, but i can't for the life of me find it after going through 100 days of this forum.
Shiney new Panasonic 42" and other gubbins. Love it to bits apart from the buzz, but hopefully the acoustic panel i've ordered will sort that out - i think it's actually lessened, i din't notce it much last night...

New addition here...
Screen: Samsung PS42S5H
Amp: Yamaha RX-V630
DVD: Samsung 850
Sky +
Xbox Hidden in the back
I'm going to wall mount the panel next, and get new front/centre speakers, and the XBox will go in the stand properly.

Well it may seem that I am the only one here who knows hardly anything about plugging this and that into my new 42" plasma TV (Swisstec). But I do love it to bits, I am thoroughly enjoying watching it. Films look and sound fantastic, it plays things straight from the computer hard drive (films etc) and it makes the most AMAZING desktop for windows xp - great for those who need stronger glasses anyway (its just something u have to do lol).
Your wife will love a big plasma system, I was a wife once lol, I love mine.

Thats a typical Fuji Finepix reflection there!
Nice speakers, what do you think of the on axis tweeter driver arrangment? does it really increase the sweetspot?
Best regards David

Spot on - it is indeed a Fuji
Off-axis performance is very impressive compared to my old Tannoy MX3's/MXc which used to be the front soundstage. Compared to the Tannoy's, the KEF's are leagues ahead in terms of looks and most importantly, sound quality. The driver integration is superb with the midrange in particular being highly natural and involving. The imaging is nothing short of stunning - listening to 2 channel music you would swear the rears are outputting sounds on certain CD's.

you like the set up. The unit is made from pine with an antique finish. Made by a local company, Ardesley Pine for ?285 and designed by yours truely. It was specifically designed to accomodate the Mission centre speaker but obviously you could make it what you want. I'll post some more photos from different angles later. If anybody wants me to send them the design, just mail me.
I have to say, I'm very happy with it.
The plasmas not bad either.

Well we can't actually see out of that window during the summer due to the trees outside, and on the other wall we have eight foot french doors overlooking the garden/pool, so the view through the north facing window that looks though trees to the access road isnt a high priority to us!
But I would agree entirely if you have a great view you would'nt want to block it, and we would'nt either.
Best regards David

I have one of the same wall brackets as Sambo's up for grabs. It's a B-Tech articulated arm & universal mount kit
I soiled myself when it arrived (I live in a rental & it looks like industrial strength......ie Forth Bridge-ish) & decided that I'd better not use it after all! The cost (Sambo will confirm) at the cheapest outlets is about £170+ (+p&p)......but averages circa £175-£195 (I've seen it listed in some places at £250!)
I hunted & haggled & eventually paid £160 +p&p (which is a tenner cheaper than anywhere on the net I could find)
I can sell it for £150+p&p (it's completly new)
PM me if interested.

It's a cheep (33£) generic wallmount without the possibility to change the inclination, bought it here on eBay Germany.
Had to use different (longer) screws than those they provided, apart from that mounting was easy and it fits perfectly to the wall (it's as close as it can get).
Picture quality is very nice with SD sources. Could use some additional contrast though but i'm trying to keep it low in the first few hours of usage as recommended :-)

About time I posted some pics of mine
Firstly my 55" Hitachi bought of these very forums. TBH it's a bit too big for my front room, but until I make my mind up between a Sony X series lcd, or the new Pioneer 50" plasma, it's staying
Fed a DVI signal from a Samsung 950 from the HDMI socket using a Supra HDMI>DVI cable. Needs settings sorting out as I haven't got a clue tbh!
Hoping for a better image quality when I hook it up to my Denon 3910.
And one showing the size of it compaired to a 360 case
Will post some of my Pioneer 435FDE over the weekend
Cheers

It's a 55PMA550E (still current model). I bought it minus the desk stand but including a wall bracket for ?1300 off this forum a few weeks back, and i'm absolutely chuffed with it, just a bit too big. I already had a spare Hitachi desk stand from a 42" that fitted it, but one of the proper stands for this screen came up at the right price brand new, so bought it
No idea what the price on these are now, but the chap paid ?4000 for it a year ago.

Just got my new Marantz 61" plamsa today. The smaller one is the NEC 42 that will go in my bedroom. Lexicon DVD, Pre Amp, and Amp. Thiel speakers. Yes, b&w speakers as my coffee table for now. I just got the Thiel's. The black box in front is a DVDO HD.
This weekend a couple friends are coming over, we are going to build a false wall to counter sink all the equipment into. Will post progress and finished pics. For now, i got this:

Here's some pics of my new Hitachi 42PD5200 recently setup in my new house. Well worth the upgrade from the 32PD3000. The only problem was all the extra wires going to the tv.
And Here's where the beer drinking takes place.

Do the speakers detach?
And what are the main differences between this one and 32pd3000 (that i have)?

The speakers do detatch but my wife likes them on so she doesn't have to go through the amp.
Some of the fors for my new plasma are: the obvious size increase, two component inputs, dvi input, better picture contol (The set up menu's in general are much better) and slightly higher capable reolution (1028X1028)
The againsts I have are:the lack of tuner box, just for ease of cabling.
Didn't think it was worth extra for the 42PD5300 which is supposedly not as good anyway. Only one scart, but I only really need one.

Well here's mine. This is my first post so I hope it works. After weeks of reading through the forum I finally decided to go with the pwd6 because I didn't want to wait for the pwd7 and I wanted it in black (i've always dreamed of an all black setup.):
It's a bit of a mess because I just set it up. I think the Panny stand looks amazing (and helps hide some wires). Perfect if your landlord won't let you wall mount
Check out the rear Kefs:
And the 250W Kef Sub feeling comfy behind the sofa.
Sorry for the horrible pic quality. I'll try to get some better ones and edit the post. Tell me what you think, suggestions are always welcome as this is my first plasma setup.

P.S thanks to Andy at AV-Sales for helping me out with everything, from now I'll never order from anywhere else!

Hi Folks
I would like to post a pic of my setup. There seems to be 3 different ways of doing this - 1. posting a link. 2. Attaching a thumbnail. 3. Inserting a pic into the post.
This last method looks by far the best to me but it is the only one where I cannot see how to achieve this. I have trawled around on here to try to find the answer myself but so far no joy.
TIA for any replies.

Hey that was mine - I say "was" - changed things around abit - new floor meant new glass stand with room to stick the centre under the plasma - to be honest I didnt really like the centre on the wall like that. Also moved up to the Mission M3C2 (from the C1) as I have always felt the centre was a bit weak.
Also gone wireless from the XBox to PC's for media streaming - you can just make out the wireless bridge, middle right shelf
Here's the new arrangment ....

I've been looking for something that doesn't have the brackets below, like a floating shelf, but also with ends to keep the DVDs upright.

As spotted by BobbaFet .. its a Netgear MP101
Despite its niggles, its the best piece of hardware I've ever bought ... less that ?100 and my 8000+ mp3 collection is available through the hi-fi, wirelessly !
Most people I know can't get these to work .. but when they do ...

You are quite correct, the ceiling is wooden, as is the rest of the house which is completely timber built. The only bit which is brick is the wall where the plasma is mounted.

I agree the imaging does improve slightly when move away from the wall, they are back there at the mo because i haven't really had time play. Believe it or not these speaker cope with it very well, not boomy in any way, which i have to say really surprised me.
I have a new sub coming tomorrow and i am going to spend some time setting it all up properly with sound meter, i really could do with having the system professionally calibrated to set for my room, as i am sure i can get more out of the system than it currently produces. i suspect and my ears tell me there are some issues there. However it all sounds rather nice, so any improvement will be a bonus.
cheers

Hi GPA,
You're fortunate that they sound so good being so close to the back and side walls. Some speakers are designed to work against a back wall but I know of none that are designed to work in a corner.
I've just bought the Digital Video Essentials DVD to calibrate my PH9. It also includes exptensive audio tests and would be ideal for your system. At ?15 it's a snip but be warned the navigation system could have been designed by a Klingon!

Not the best pic in the world but here is my new Panny 50PX60 that I got today due to the recent price drops (replacing my 42PV500), so far I'm very impressed with it although I will look at replacing the stand.
